Get a German phone number for your business.

German customers call a German number, and that makes a difference to both response and trust. Which number you can have depends on one thing: whether you have an address in Germany. Below is what is possible either way.

The question that decides everything

Which German number can your business have?

The Bundesnetzagentur is one of the stricter regulators in Europe, and the rule is clear: if a number is tied to a place, you need to be present there. Only 0800 is allowed without a German address.

Do you have an address in Germany?

  • +49 800

0800 — free for the caller

Can be registered to an address outside Germany. The Bundesnetzagentur allows this so that foreign businesses can be reached, provided the German caller never pays.

    Possible Possible

  • +49 32

    032 — national

Works across Germany without being tied to a city, but requires a verifiable German address.

    Possible German address needed

  • +49 30

    Local — Berlin, Munich, Hamburg

A city code builds regional trust straight away, but you then need a presence in that city.

Possible in the city of your address Local premises needed

Do you have a warehouse or fulfilment partner in Germany? Then that address counts. Many of our UK customers who ship to Germany register their 032 or local number at their fulfilment partner's address. Set the switch to “Yes” to see what is possible then.

In stock and what it costs

Numbers available today

What a number abroad costs

£43 per monthper number

The same amount in each of the fourteen countries — a German number costs no more than a UK one. Including the full phone system: forwarding, IVR menu, call queue, call recording and statistics.

Just testing the market

£220 per yearprepaid

One line, one forwarding number, no features. For anyone who first wants to know whether the phone rings at all before setting up a phone system. That is less than £19 a month — under half the full rate, with exactly one thing that works: the number rings and the call reaches you.

And the call charges

Those depend on where the call goes

A call that arrives in Germany and goes on to a UK VoIP line costs a different amount from one to a German mobile. You get that rate with your proposal; it is the one thing we cannot put on the page, because it differs per route.

Why you can get this from us

Licensed, and the platform is ours

What matters behind a foreign number is who handles it when something out of the ordinary is needed: an urgent change, a non-standard routing, a question from the regulator. We are a licensed telecom provider and run our own intelligent IVR platform, so our own team handles it.

  • Germany

    Registered with the Bundesnetzagentur

    Registration number 19/092

Authorised to issue German numbers, in line with German telecoms law. That can be checked, and that is the point.

  • Europe

    Licensed in fifteen countries

We know the rules in each country because, as a licensed provider, we are subject to them ourselves.

  • The platform

One phone system for all your numbers

Your German, UK and Dutch numbers come in on the same routing, with the same queue and the same dashboard. No separate accounts per country.

How it works

From request to a ringing phone

  1. You tell us what you need

Which city or which type, and whether you have a German address. If you're not sure, we'll look at it with you.

  2. We check and send a quote

Within one working day you get a proposal with the current rates and an honest answer on whether it can be done. Sometimes the answer is that an 0800 number will serve you better than a local number.

  3. The registration

For 032 and local numbers we submit the proof of address to the regulator. That is the only part you have to wait for.

  4. Forwarding to your team

The call arrives in Germany and lands with your colleagues in the UK. The caller dials a German number and never notices the difference.

Frequently asked questions

About German phone numbers

Yes, but only an 0800 number. It may be registered with an address outside Germany, because the Bundesnetzagentur recognises that foreign businesses want to be reachable — provided the call is free for the German caller. For 032 numbers and local numbers, a verifiable German address is mandatory.

Yes. If you have a warehouse, fulfilment centre or partner office in Germany, you can use that address to register an 032 or local number. Many of our UK customers who ship to Germany do this with their fulfilment partner’s address. For a local number, though, the address must be in the city of the area code.

An 032 number is national: it works across all of Germany without being tied to a city, and requires a verifiable German address. A local number carries a city code, such as 030 for Berlin, 089 for Munich or 040 for Hamburg, which builds regional trust straight away. For that, though, your business must have a presence in that city.

When a customer in Germany calls your German number, we route the call through our network and forward it wherever you want: your UK landline, a mobile, a VoIP system or a team via a phone menu. The caller hears a normal German ringing tone and, if you wish, a welcome message in German. On your side, you first hear a short beep or announcement, so you know the call came in through your German number.

A German number costs £43 a month, the same amount in every country, including the complete phone system: call forwarding, phone menu, queue, call recording and statistics. If you only want to test the market first, you can do so for £220 a year with one line and one forwarding destination, for an 032 or local number. On top of that you pay per minute; that rate depends on where the call goes and is shown in your quote. All prices are also on our pricing page.

We offer three main types: Local numbers (e.g., Berlin 030, Munich 089) for a local presence, National numbers (032) for a nationwide presence without a specific city tie, and 0800 Toll-Free numbers which are free for callers. An 032 number needs an address in Germany, and a local number needs an address in the number’s area-code zone. 0800 numbers are available with a worldwide address, making them the easiest option for UK businesses.

An 0800 number allows customers to call you for free from any German landline or mobile network. You, as the number owner, cover the call costs. This is the gold standard for customer service in Germany and significantly lowers the barrier for customers to contact you. Note that 0800 toll-free numbers can only be dialled from within Germany — they cannot be called from abroad.

German numbers start with the country code +49. When advertising your number internationally, use the format +49 30 12345678 (dropping the leading ‘0’ of the area code). Domestically, it would be 030 12345678.

Once we receive any necessary documentation (if required for your chosen number type), activation is typically very fast. Virtual numbers can often be set up within 1 business day, allowing you to start receiving calls to your existing phone lines immediately.

Absolutely. Our German virtual numbers come with a complete professional phone system. You can set up German text-to-speech welcome messages, call menus (“Press 1 for Sales”), call recording for quality assurance, and time-based routing, all managed from our online dashboard.

The Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency) is the German authority responsible for telecoms regulation, including the assignment of telephone numbers to registered providers. You can find more information at www.bundesnetzagentur.de.

Yes, CallFactory is registered with the Bundesnetzagentur under number 19/092, authorised to issue German virtual phone numbers in full compliance with German telecoms law.
